Missions and evangelism is an important focus at SCCBC.  We regularly support missions work through the New Lebanon Baptist Association, Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Southern Baptist Convention.  We regularly give to the SBC’s Cooperative Program as well as annual special mission offerings such as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions work, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions work and the Alma Hunt Offering for mission work within the state of Virginia.

We also believe that mission work must begin at home.  We regularly help families in time of need throughout our community.  This support comes both through financial giving but also through work projects by many in our church as they share their talents and abilities to help meet the needs of others.

Mission trips are in the planning stages in our church.  We are looking at opportunities both within the United States and in other Countries.  We have had several involved in past trips to places such as Mexico, Panama, Africa, Trinidad and other places around the world.

We want to be obedient to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Great Commission:

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
